The Los Fresnos Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the San Benito Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Los Fresnos has three straight wins, the Greyhounds have five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, Los Fresnos sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-50 victory over the Golden Eagles.
Gio Galvan and Andrew Munoz were among the main playmakers for Los Fresnos as the former dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds and the latter scored 15 points. Galvan is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jj Salazar, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, San Benito was the victim of a tough 58-36 defeat at the hands of the Raiders on Friday.
Los Fresnos pushed their record up to 25-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for San Benito, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Los Fresnos beat the Greyhounds 74-63 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Los Fresnos since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
