The Cheshire Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the West Haven Blue Devils at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Cheshire will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
If Cheshire beats West Haven with six runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Rams walked away with a 6-1 victory over East Haven on Friday.
Stephen Fitzmaurice looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walk any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Bennett Crerar was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Luke Mann was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Cheshire was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Foran hit West Haven with a four-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Devils fell 8-4 to the Lions.
Justin Wilson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Murray, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Cheshire's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for West Haven, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.
Cheshire skirted past West Haven 7-6 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
