Basketball Game Preview: College Park Cavaliers vs. The Woodlands Highlanders

The College Park Cavaliers will challenge The Woodlands Highlanders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

College Park is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Caney Creek: they outscored them in every quarter. College Park blew past Caney Creek 43-20 on Tuesday. Given the Cavaliers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 375th, while the Panthers are ranked 980th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Katie Westwood had an outrageously good game as she went 6 of 9 en route to 17 points and three steals. What's more, she also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Brooke Smith was another key player, putting up nine points and six boards.

Meanwhile, The Woodlands waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 81-9 victory over the Indians. The Highlanders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.

College Park has also been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points per game. As for The Woodlands, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-10.

College Park was able to grind out a solid victory over The Woodlands in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 52-42. Does College Park have another victory up their sleeve, or will The Woodlands turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
