The Stanton Mustangs entered their tilt with the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Stanton walked away with a 44-33 victory over Hartington-Newcastle on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Stanton also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Stanton was led to victory by Hayden Dixon and Olivia Hupp. Dixon scored six points along with nine rebounds, while Hupp dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Dixon pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyler Siebrandt, who scored four points.
Stanton's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points per game. As for Hartington-Newcastle, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stanton will face off against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family on Tuesday. Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and Stanton are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Hartington-Newcastle and Bloomfield will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
