Veanna Helmstetter made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Madison Reiber was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Avery Rosser was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Monroeville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-3 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.3 runs. As for Mathews, their defeat dropped their record down to 24-6-1.
Looking ahead, Monroeville will challenge Mohawk at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Mathews does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
