Columbus waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Everything went their way against the Ferguson Falcons as they made off with a 10-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Explorers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Samuel Alonso tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Matthew Fernandez was a standout: he scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Alec Cruz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
