While Maggie Walker didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Highland Springs 8-1 in the first period.
Jalise Melson led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Ashley Simmons was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when J.R. Tucker challenged Hermitage on Friday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Panthers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Kendall Shockley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Shockley was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Miyah Williams was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Victoria Smith also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
J.R. Tucker's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 2-8. As for Maggie Walker, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
