The Lathrop Spartans lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Saturday was a bit more commanding. They were outmatched by Bear Creek on the road and fell 78-51. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lathrop in their matchups with the Bruins: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Lathrop still got an impressive performance from Bobby Cotton, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cotton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reniel Crisostomo, who scored eight points along with five assists.
Lathrop's defeat dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Bear Creek, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lathrop and the Mustangs will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Mountain House knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully the Spartans like a good challenge. As for Bear Creek, they and the Vikings will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Edison will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
