The Bexley Lions will take on the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Vernon took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Bexley, who comes in off a win.
Bexley took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Grandview Heights. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
One reason for the win was Bexley's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-16, 25-12.
Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Granville. While the Yellowjackets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Blue Aces 25-18 in the first set.
Mt. Vernon started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-21, 25-12, 25-17.
Bexley will need to focus on slowing down Callie Swanson, one of several Mt. Vernon players who made an impact when they last played. She had ten digs and four aces. Swanson is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Komitau, who had 15 assists and four digs.
Bexley's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Mt. Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
