The Kenesaw Blue Devils will be home for the holidays to greet the Silver Lake Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Kenesaw focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Kenesaw came up short against Doniphan-Trumbull and fell 50-37. Kenesaw has struggled against Doniphan-Trumbull recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Ashlyn Hess, who scored six points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that she grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Avery Kelley, who scored seven points.
Even though they lost, Kenesaw were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Silver Lake scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They really took it to Gibbon for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-15 victory on the road. The victory was familiar territory for Silver Lake who now have three in a row.
Silver Lake found their leader in underclassman Sophie Schmidt, who scored 14 points along with nine steals. The game was Schmidt's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna Karr, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Kenesaw now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Silver Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's matchup: Kenesaw have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 31% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Silver Lake struggles in that department as they've only nailed 32.8% of their threes per game this season. Given Kenesaw's sizeable advantage in that area, Silver Lake will need to find a way to close that gap.
