Football Recap: Bruce Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Bruce put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Coffeeville Pirates with a sharp 38-16 win. With the Trojans ahead 30-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bruce to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joshua Long, who threw for 162 yards and two TDs. A healthy portion of that aerial production (92 yards to be exact) went to Cayden Jones, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Bruce didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Sha'Marion McCain, Marcus Brownlee, and Jakobie Hatchett picked up one apiece. Bruce received some extra help from James Fred Gaiter, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Bruce's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Coffeeville, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Bruce will face off against J.Z. George at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Coffeeville, they will square off against Potts Camp at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
