Eastern View has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Spotsylvania Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastern View should still be riding high after a big victory, while Spotsylvania will be looking to get back into the win column.
Last Friday, Eastern View was fully in charge, breezing past James Monroe 58-7 at home. Given Eastern View's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 69th, while James Monroe is ranked 285th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Eastern View's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaheim Frye, who rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Frye was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. William Butler was in the mix as well, providing Eastern View with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Spotsylvania fell victim to Courtland's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 35-0 loss at the hands of the Cougars.
Eastern View's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-0. To be fair, it's not like the team was facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-6 North Stafford and 2-4 Westmoreland (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 29.2% over those games). As for Spotsylvania, their defeat on Friday dropped their record down to 2-4.
Everything came up roses for Eastern View against Spotsylvania when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 64-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastern View since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
