The Beachside Barracudas will head out on the road to square off against the Bartram Trail Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Beachside has ten straight victories, Bartram Trail has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Beachside stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Creekside at home to the tune of 57-30. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Beachside has posted since December 11, 2023.
Beachside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madilyn (Madi) Ray led the charge by almost dropping a triple-double on 12 points, 13 rebounds, and nine blocks. Ray hasn't dropped below two blocks for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Cremen, who scored eight points along with nine steals and six assists.
Meanwhile, Bartram Trail came up short against Tocoi Creek on Friday and fell 49-42. While losing is never fun, Bartram Trail can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 327th, while Tocoi Creek is ranked 107th).
Beachside's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.11 points. As for Bartram Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
Everything came up roses for Beachside against Bartram Trail when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 59-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Beachside since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
