The Central Rockets and the Norland Vikings squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Central Rockets had to settle for second. They took a 67-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. Central's loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justin Suarez, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dwight Carter, who scored 13 points along with three blocks and two steals.
It was another big night for Marcus Allen, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 16 rebounds for Norland. Allen is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Triston Wilson, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Central's loss dropped their record down to 19-5. As for Norland, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.
Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Norland is on the road again on Saturday and plays Archbishop McCarthy at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th. Hopefully Norland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday.
