Softball Recap: Soddy Daisy Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Chattanooga Central typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Soddy Daisy proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Pounders with a sharp 11-3 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Trojans, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Izzy Webb spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Skylar Gooden, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having also posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Abby Faires was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

Soddy Daisy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.

Soddy Daisy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-10-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Chattanooga Central, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Soddy Daisy will host Walker Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Chattanooga Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hixson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
