The Chico Panthers and the Pleasant Valley Vikings squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Chico Panthers had to settle for second. They took a 28-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. It was the first time this season that Chico let down their fans at home.
When it comes to explaining why Chico lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dion Coleman. Despite the final result, he rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Coleman was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 57 yards.
Lucas Benson was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 104 yards and four touchdowns.
Chico's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Pleasant Valley, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.
Chico does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Pleasant Valley will look to defend their home field on Friday against Miramonte at 7:30 p.m. Miramonte has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 124 points over their last three matches.
