After three games on the road, Harvey is heading back home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Chardon Hilltoppers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Harvey didn't have too much trouble with Wickliffe on the road as they won 74-56. Given Harvey's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while Wickliffe is ranked 781st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Harvey relied on the efforts of Braylon Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds, and Chase Goines, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Johnson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Armani Hall, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Chardon scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lakeside and snuck past 82-80. The victory was just what Chardon needed coming off of a 74-41 defeat in their prior game.
Harvey's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Chardon, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Harvey came up short against Chardon when the teams last played back in January of 2021, falling 68-55. Can Harvey avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
