The Flour Bluff Hornets will face off against the Palmview Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Flour Bluff 3.5, Palmview 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Last Friday, Flour Bluff was able to grind out a solid victory over King, taking the game 4-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Colten Englert made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Flour Bluff is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 11-12-2 otherwise. Englert was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Roland Vera looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Flour Bluff is 5-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-12-2 otherwise.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Bradley Terry, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Palmview waltzed into their contest on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They skirted past the Tigers 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lobos have posted against the Tigers since April 13, 2021.
Like Flour Bluff, Palmview also got a great game from a two-way player: Mateo Garcia. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Garcia has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Garcia wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Javier Garza, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another was Jaxzel Cantu, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Palmview pushed their record up to 19-6 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Flour Bluff, the victory got them back to even at 13-13-2.
Flour Bluff suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Palmview in their previous meeting back in February of 2020. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
