Baseball Game Preview: Calera Bulldogs vs. Coleman Wildcats

Calera is a perfect 4-0 against Coleman since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Calera is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Calera is returning to their home field after beating Cashion on theirs, despite the fact Cashion has dominated at home this season. The Bulldogs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats on Friday, sneaking past 4-3.

Sasakwa hit Coleman with a five-run first inning last Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats lost 13-5 to the Vikings.

Coleman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dayton Russell, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Silas Walters was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Calera pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Coleman, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season.

Everything went Calera's way against Coleman when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Calera made off with a 12-0 win. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
