The Warren Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Taft Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
On Wednesday, Warren made easy work of Stevens and carried off a 12-5 victory.
Warren let Jenna Bonilla and Celi Flores run wild. Bonilla went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Flores went 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Bonilla has posted since back in February. Audrina Rivera was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Warren kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Taft came out on top against Stevens on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Raiders never let the Falcons get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Camilla Hernandez made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Lorena Ramos was excellent, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jacelyn Parks, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with three runs.
The victory got Warren back to even at 12-12. As for Taft, their record now sits at 17-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Warren hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Taft struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Warren couldn't quite get it done against Taft in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 5-2. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
