The Paloma Valley Wildcats waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Heritage by a score of 72-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Paloma Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ameer Sharif, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. Tyree Cardwell was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Heritage still got an impressive performance from Aaron Contreras, who scored 27 points. Another player making a difference was Adrian Viray, who scored 11 points.
The victory got Paloma Valley back to even at 10-10. As for Heritage, they dropped their record down to 8-13 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Paloma Valley will look to defend their home court on Friday against Canyon Springs at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Canyon Springs' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Heritage, they will head out on the road to take on Lakeside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeside is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.5 points per game.
