After flying high against Sacred Heart Academy back in December of 2023, the Wyoming HomeSchool Warrior came back down to earth. Wyoming HomeSchool was the victim of a rough 74-53 defeat at the hands of Fort Wayne HomeSchool on Friday. While losing is never fun, Wyoming HomeSchool can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 446th in Michigan, while Fort Wayne HomeSchool is ranked 48th in Indiana).
Sam Newcomer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fort Wayne HomeSchool, scoring 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Newcomer is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah King, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Wyoming HomeSchool has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Fort Wayne HomeSchool, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-2.
Wyoming HomeSchool will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Algoma Christian at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Fort Wayne HomeSchool on the road again on Saturday and play against Indianapolis Northwest W at 1:50 p.m. on January 20th.
