The North Edgecombe Warriors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Warren County, posting a 80-47 victory at home. That looming 80-47 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for North Edgecombe yet this season.
North Edgecombe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ke'Ziyah Pittman led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Pittman is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of ChyAsia Garrett, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks.
Warren County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mariah Harris, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Harris scored 15 or more points. Aryana Meadows was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
The win was the third in a row for North Edgecombe, bringing their record for this year to 3-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26 points. As for Warren County, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Edgecombe will be home for the holidays to greet Rocky Mount Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rocky Mount Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 475th, while North Edgecombe is ranked 206th). Warren County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Louisburg at 6:00 p.m. on December 13th.
