The New Hampstead Phoenix won the last time they faced the Islands Sharks, and things went their way on Friday too. New Hampstead breezed by Islands at home to the tune of 54-13. Given New Hampstead's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Islands is ranked 367th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rashawn Truell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 261 yards and six touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Hampton, who picked up 128 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
New Hampstead's win bumped their record up to 4-4. As for Islands, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
New Hampstead will stay at home for another week and welcome Burke County at 7:00 p.m. on October 26th. Burke County is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Islands, they will challenge Benedictine at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Benedictine is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
