Spanish Fork is 8-2 against Maple Mountain since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Lia Higginson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Blakely Hathaway also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Maple Mountain came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Vikings. That's two games straight that the Golden Eagles have won by just one run.
The team relied heavily on Daphnee Pagano, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Chelsie Carter was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Maple Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Spanish Fork's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Maple Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Spanish Fork's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Dons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Maple Mountain, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Spanish Fork continue to outrun the ball?
Spanish Fork might still be hurting after the 11-4 defeat they got from Maple Mountain when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Dons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
