Douglas is 1-7 against Red Cloud since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Douglas Patriots will be playing at home against the Red Cloud Crusaders at 2:30 p.m. The timing isn't great for Douglas: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home, while Red Cloud has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
Last Tuesday, Douglas came up short against Custer and fell 49-36.
Meanwhile, Red Cloud didn't have too much trouble with More at home on Tuesday as they won 51-34. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Red Cloud has scored all year.
Red Cloud found their leader in underclassman Ashlan Carlow-Blount, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Carlow-Blount is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jodene Hunter, who scored 14 points.
Douglas' defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Red Cloud, their victory bumped their record up to 17-0.
Douglas took a serious blow against Red Cloud when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 66-20. Thankfully for Douglas, Rhionna Brewer (who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
