The Tualatin Timberwolves will square off against the Oregon City Pioneers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Tualatin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Tualatin fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Tigard on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 5-4. The Timberwolves just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.
Oregon City let Lake Oswego stack five runs on them in the fourth inning on Friday but luckily Oregon City prevailed anyway. The Pioneers had just enough and edged out the Lakers 7-6. That's two games straight that the Pioneers have won by just one run.
Ellie Joseph made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Elise Bean and Chloe Stromme did most of the damage at the plate: Bean went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Stromme went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Bean has posted since back in April of 2024.
Oregon City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.4.
Oregon City pushed their record up to 8-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Tualatin, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
Oregon City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tualatin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. It's a different story for Oregon City, though, as they've only averaged .247. Will they be able to contain Tualatin's hitters?
Tualatin suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Oregon City in their previous meeting last Wednesday. Will the Timberwolves have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
