The Wakefield Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a 49-33 bruising from Ponca. While losing is never fun, Wakefield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Indians are ranked 17th).
Despite the loss, Wakefield saw an underclassman step up: Jacob Borg scored 13 points.
Wakefield has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Ponca, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.
Wakefield is on the road again on Thursday and plays the Bees at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st. Bloomfield is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Ponca, they will square off against the Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
