Charlie Blume put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run.
Blume wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joe Simon, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI. Simon also got a hit, marking his first of the season.
Meanwhile, West Bend West fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Nicolet on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 6-5.
West Bend West also got a good showing from Eli Kopidlansky, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Ryan Rose led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Cullen Roell was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Homestead's record now sits at 3-11. As for West Bend West, their record is now 9-5.
