Baseball Recap: ALA - Mesa North Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

ALA - Mesa North had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Tempe Prep Knights as they made off with a 14-4 win. That's two games straight that the Mavericks have won by exactly ten runs.

Ace Stinnett and Chace Marler made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Stinnett pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Marler tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Stinnett went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Marler went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave Marler a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Roman Eagleston, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Pierce Eagleston was another key player, earning two runs and one stolen base.

The victory got ALA - Mesa North back to even at 7-7. As for Tempe Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. ALA - Mesa North will square off against ALA - Ironwood at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tempe Prep, they will face off against ALA - Anthem South at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.38 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
