The Gilbert Indians will head out on the road to challenge the Crestwood Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Gilbert's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
Gilbert put the finishing touches on their 14th blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They breezed by Swansea at home to the tune of 58-31.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gilbert to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ahleira Leaphart, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Leaphart hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Blythe Price, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Crestwood unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were dealt a 74-39 defeat at the hands of Camden. Crestwood was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-18.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Saniya Williams, who scored 18 points. She hasn't dropped below 18 points for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was London Vaughn, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Gilbert's victory bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Crestwood, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Gilbert have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Crestwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
