The Ignacio Bobcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Nucla Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Ignacio's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
Ignacio will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Dolores, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Bears on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won three in a row.
Gabe A made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). A was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Ambrose V was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Ignacio: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Joesph A, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Ignacio was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Nucla scored the most runs they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 11-8 to Cedaredge.
Paxtin Caruso was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Josh Platt also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Nucla's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Ignacio, their record is now 4-2.
Nucla's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ignacio hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. It's a different story for Nucla, though, as they've only averaged .231. Will they be able to contain Ignacio's hitters?
Everything went Ignacio's way against Nucla in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Ignacio made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
