Given New Bern Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while Hilltop Christian is ranked 379th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Bern Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Jamie Lavoie, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lavoie has scored at least 25% of New Bern Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Huffman, who scored ten points.
New Bern Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. As for Hilltop Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Hilltop Christian and Faith Christian Academy will face off at 6:15 p.m. on January 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Dani Dawson and Meleah Bell.
