Bangor was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to sixth in A Pine Tree. Earlier in the week, the Rams defeated Mt. Ararat 42-0.
Messalonskee extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Little, 38-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Eagles.
Oxford Hills's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ryan Godin threw for 27 yards and Ben Bowie had 19 yards receiving. On the ground Dexter Turner chipped in 79 yards. Nick Bowie helped Oxford Hills' passing attack out by catching one ball for eight yards.
Bowie made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Vikings bested Lewiston. The 5-foot-10 senior grabbed one interception.
Skowhegan's Adam Clukey and Grant Benson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Clukey has thrown for 254 yards this season, while Benson has eight catches for 162 yards. Oxford Hills' Malik Geiger leads the league in rushing yards with 213.
A big matchup in A Pine Tree this week will be when Messalonskee takes on Brunswick. At the moment, Wes Littlefield's team is in first, while the Dragons are in fourth.
Brunswick suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 34-7 loss to Cony. Dan Cooper's team had been ranked 17th, but fell to 26 following the defeat.
