Skyline is 2-8 against Olympus since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Eagles will host the Titans at 3:30 p.m. Skyline has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Skyline is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 15th on Wednesday. They lost 12-6 to East.
Bella Waters made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Mia Robinson was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Olympus entered their tilt with Woods Cross on Wednesday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They were the clear victors by a 23-3 margin over the Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Charlie Turner tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jaedin Mugleston and Eliza Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Mugleston went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and four RBI, while Johnson went 3-for-4 with five runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five runs gave Johnson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adi Comer, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Olympus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woods Cross only posted an OBP of .292.
Olympus' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Skyline, their loss dropped their record down to 11-14.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Skyline hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Olympus struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
