Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Central Spartans walked away with it. They slipped by Eastlake 14-13 on Friday. The win was nothing new for Central as they're now sitting on six straight.
Eastlake's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Martin, who picked up 126 receiving yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Balko, who threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns.
Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Eastlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Central will head out on the road to face off against La Jolla at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. La Jolla knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Central likes a good challenge. Eastlake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
