Even if the Wildcats couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Laken Napier made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Jody Stamper was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Perry County Central couldn't beat Pike County Central on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the sixth inning. The Commodores fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 6-5.
Corbin Wooton put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those hits were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Dylan Elkins was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Buckhorn is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10. As for Perry County Central, their record now sits at 4-12.
Perry County Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Buckhorn hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. It's a different story for Perry County Central, though, as they've only averaged .246. Will they be able to contain Buckhorn's hitters?
Buckhorn suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Perry County Central in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
