Fairfield County recap Oct. 3, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Westhill, who took down 40th ranked Norwalk, 13-0.
The Vikings moved up to 61 from 99 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Fairfield County. Westhill climbed the ranks as a result of a 13-0 win over the Bears.
Christian Bognar was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 151 yards on 16 carries as Darien fell to Ridgefield. Teammate Ian Vanderhorn added to the ground attack by rushing for 134 yards.
Bivona was the best wideout in the league this week as the Black Knights fell to the Tigers. Bivona tallied five receptions for 109 yards. John Pasard helped Stamford's passing attack out by catching six balls for 39 yards.
Jordan Vazzano threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns. He went 16-35 with two interceptions.
6-foot-3 quarterback Vazzano of St. Joseph is the league leader in passing yards this season with 666. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, Stamford's Cameron Webb has rushed for 375 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Nicholas Lombardo. The Darien star has eight catches for 329 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Ridgefield takes on Wilton. At the moment, Kevin Callahan's team is in eighth, while the Warriors are in fourth.
Trinity Catholic was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Harding 34-0. The Crusaders came in at 19 in the state poll after placing at number 37 last week.
