Pen Argyl has gone a perfect 10-0 against Saucon Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Green Knights will challenge the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Pen Argyl is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
Pen Argyl is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Catasauqua on Tuesday as they made off with a 19-0 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Green Knights with their most commanding win of the season.
Grace Weaver was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Weaver was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Pen Argyl got a massive performance out of Jillian Bradley, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Bradley hit this season. Another player making a difference was Angie Beltran, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.
Pen Argyl always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .759. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Catasauqua only posted an OBP of .182.
Meanwhile, Saucon Valley lost 15-1 to Wilson Area on Tuesday. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Saucon Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Gall, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Pen Argyl pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Saucon Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Saucon Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pen Argyl hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. It's a different story for Saucon Valley, though, as they've only averaged .197. Will they be able to contain Pen Argyl's hitters?
