The Crawford County Eagles suffered their biggest defeat since December 2, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 54-30 defeat at the hands of Lamar County. While losing is never fun, Crawford County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 455th, while Lamar County is ranked 80th).
Crawford County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jada Harris, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Jakayla Peeples, who scored nine points.
It was another big night for Shakiria Foster, who scored 28 points along with six rebounds and five steals for Lamar County. Foster is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zakiria Foster, who scored nine points along with seven assists and three steals.
Crawford County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Lamar County, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 13-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crawford County will take on Temple at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Temple will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Lamar County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Heard County at 6:00 p.m.
