The Rockland Bulldogs and the Clinton Gaels squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Rockland Bulldogs had to settle for second. Rockland was outmatched by Clinton at home and fell 49-6. Rockland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.
Clinton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Axel Ramos led the charge by rushing for 141 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Ramos is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Phillips, who rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Clinton's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Connor Cox and Ethan Frisch who racked up five sacks between them.
Rockland has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Clinton, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Rockland will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on East Bridgewater at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. As for Clinton, they will head out on the road to face off against Uxbridge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Uxbridge is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
