The Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights lost against the Southampton Academy Raiders back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot fell 35-28 to Southampton Academy. Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot has not had much luck with Southampton Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot saw an underclassman step up: Erin Maynes scored ten points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Maynes has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Charlie Potter was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Southampton Academy, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Amelia Academy the next time they take the court. Southampton Academy will host Amelia Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
