The Wakefield Wolverines will take on the Wake Forest Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Wakefield comes in on four and Wake Forest on 12.
If Wakefield beats Wake Forest with 16 runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Everything went the Wolverines' way against Rolesville on Wednesday as they made off with a 16-10 win. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kensley Harrison made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brianna Riehle, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Lampman, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Wakefield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wake Forest). They blew past Knightdale 20-10 on Thursday. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Skyluhr Hulbert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hulbert was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Kaylee Bowers was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Those stolen bases were her first of the season. Nova Pate was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Wake Forest's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 7.7 runs thus far. As for Wakefield, their record now sits at 13-2.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wakefield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Wake Forest struggles in that department as they've averaged .360. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wakefield suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Wake Forest in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
