The Valley View Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Abington Heights Comets at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Valley View's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Delaware Valley 12-0. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won six games in a row.
Delaware Valley's batters probably weren't too happy with Taylor Cawley, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Cawley has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Valley View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 14 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Abington Heights had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Buckhorns as they made off with a 21-2 victory. The Comets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Laurenp Stalica made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Stalica was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Cecelia O'Malley was a standout: she went 1-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season. Isabelle Wilmot was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Abington Heights' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Valley View, their record now sits at 17-2-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Valley View hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 2.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Abington Heights struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
