The Berkeley Yellowjackets will head out to challenge the Foothill Falcons at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Berkeley is headed out to face Foothill after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Yellowjackets' pitcher stepped up to hand Skyline a 13-0 shutout on Wednesday.
Estella Espinoza made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Espinoza was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on June Shaller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Dags Sell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Berkeley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
Foothill came out on top against James Logan on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Falcons skirted past the Colts 7-5. The Falcons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Myra Galzie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Foothill let Naima Braham and Alexa Sponsel run wild. Braham went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Sponsel went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Braham has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Eishita Singh, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Berkeley might still be hurting after the 15-3 loss they got from Foothill when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
