The King City Mustangs will square off against the South San Francisco Warriors on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
King City is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Independence a 16-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
The result came thanks to Alizah Carrillo's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, King City got a massive performance out of Janesa Lopez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and one run. Those five RBI gave Lopez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Romero, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
King City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Independence only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, South San Francisco had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Aztecs with a sharp 11-1 win.
Sydney Semans made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madyson Jade Quintanilla, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Miley Salvatore was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
South San Francisco's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for King City, their win bumped their record up to 17-11.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. King City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like South San Francisco struggles in that department as they've averaged .402. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
