Hackley won the last time they faced Fieldston and things went their way on Monday too. The Hornets blew past the Eagles 8-0. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won eight games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Andrea Hegarty was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hackley let Ellie Firsenbaum and Samantha Sarro run wild. Firsenbaum got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, while Sarro went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits Sarro has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Paes, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Hackley and bumps their season record up to 9-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Fieldston, they moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
As of now, neither Hackley nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
