The Blanco Panthers suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Llano by a score of 33-30. Blanco was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Llano apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mina Broyles, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five steals. Broyles is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kate Capshaw, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Llano's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amelia Robinson, who scored ten points.
This is the second loss in a row for Blanco and nudges their season record down to 12-16. As for Llano, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blanco will square off against Ingram Moore at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ingram Moore is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Llano, they will head out on the road to face off against Florence at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Florence has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.
