Lewis Mills had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Plainville on Monday. The Spartans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Blue Devils an 8-0 shutout. The game marked the Spartans' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Eliza Criss was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three runs.

Lewis Mills has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Plainville, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-3 record.
