Owen Dumbroski was his usual excellent self, going 8-for-14 to rack up 26 points and seven boards. His afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 25 points. Mark Johnson was another key player, putting up 12 points.
Nazareth Prep's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mikey Keyes, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 10 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Keyes is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Will Evans Jr, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 14 boards.
Serra Catholic's win bumped their record up to 21-3. As for Nazareth Prep, with the loss, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-5.
Coming up, Serra Catholic will challenge Neighborhood Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Serra Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 contests -- so hopefully Neighborhood Academy likes a good challenge. Nazareth Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
